wefatherm,fusiotherm and tigris green
« on: November 20, 2009, 01:41:41 PM »
has anyone had trouble with their local councils when in the instance of using a wefatherm fitting on tigris pipe(or vice versa) they will not allow it. seems crazy that if you order a load of gear from the merchant often a fair amount of the fittings are a mixture of wefatherm, tigris or fusiotherm, obviously the merchant just wants the sale and doesnt care what they send out on the truck.

seems crazy as the old one liner comes out when they say, "its all made in the same factory anyway, just has a different branding on it"

It comes down to the warranty. I believe Tigris will accept a fusio fitting on their installations and cover under warranty, but aquatherm will not cover any other fitting connected to their piping system. Don't know with wefa though

yeah thats weird, i think your local council plumbing inspector was probably told that somewhere down the line and now firmly believes in it. He probably has no idea about pp-r fittings and thinks one will fail if used with another so covers himself. It is true though, tigris green was bought out apparantly and i had also noticed we were recieving both tigris and wefa fittings when we made a order. I've mixed fittings before and hav'nt had one fail yet. The only pp-r system i've come across that was of a much lesser quality was DISMY pipe and fittings coming out of shanghai China.Word is aquatherm bought them out

I'm an inspector for a Council. I'm well aware that it will work but it comes down to liabilty. If it fails for whatever reason the manufacturer isn't liable if another product was used with his. Read the fine print in their warranties.

We are well aware of what fine print is mr council inspector, and i can read. What we are saying is we get given fittings like this from places such as Mastertrade nz.We dont mix fittings out of sheer laziness. We have no choice in the matter unless we pursue the matter in our employers time dicking around at the merchants only to be told if we dont want to use the product use another.pretty hard when a job specifies for example wefatherm but we have issues nationwide with supply mixing tigris/wefa.

as far as im conserned like for like to ensure no warranty issues are pushed back onto me!
dux pipe and crimpers for dux fittings and bute pipe and fittings for bute crimpers...alough we know that the two systems mix and match perfectly...i just dont on the fact of accountability i dont want to run the risk.

I agree with Thunderhead - don't buy into this argument as it will cost you in the long run.  The issue is the merchants changing who they are aligned to and where they buy THEIR product from.  Good merchants should stock all ranges and tools for them.  This is becoming an increasing problem as the number of products increases and all need their own tools.  Rodza - I am sure your employer would appreciate you bringing this to his attention and then letting him make the final decision as to what liability he is accepting when he instructs you to carry on.
