Blistered outlet washers
« on: October 20, 2015, 07:44:49 PM »
Hi guys, has anyone outside the kapiti area been having trouble with blistering of outlet washers in toilet cisterns?
I'm finding the red silicone caroma outlet washers are only lasting 5 to 6 months before needing replacement again. The Gerberit outlet washers don't fare much better.
Customers are getting pissed off with it and Dont want to pay again. Caroma aren't much help.
They gave our merchant a handful of washers to hand out to pissed off plumbers.
According to caroma they only have this problem in kapiti,  basically saying our water supply is the cause.
Our water is nasty, but meets drinking standards according to council .

Interested if anyone outside kapiti has this problem.

Cheers
Murray.

Hi Murray

Yes we have had the same issue in Upper Hutt. The washers seem to de-laminate and if you leave them in the sun the go back to normal according to my guys. Obviously can't be used again but something isn't right with them. We have had more Gerberit washers give out than any others.

Regards

Wal
