Gas and Coucil Regulations.
« on: February 03, 2016, 03:18:02 PM »
hi guys, came across a guy today who told me that the gas company would not supply him gas anymore as the bottle station was to close to an air vent (the vent in question had not been covered since original installation and had been like that for TEN years) and was told to seal it off.  He then called the council to question sealing off air vents who told him that he could not seal off air vents it is against the building regs to block off any air vents. To get over the problem he made a duct from sheet metal that had the air inlet the required distance from the bottle station, anyone come up against this situation and is it something that we should be doing, cheers

I would imagine that this has arisen because of the new H&S legislation. The delivery people are now being educated re "proper" installations. As they will become responsible for supplying the gas in the first place, they need to limit their liability and ensuring that regulations (obvious ones) are adhered to is a starting point for that.  There will be alot of dissapointed people around here soon if that is the case. There are so many non- compliant gas installs, you could walk for half an hour and get at least 50 and thats just the bad stuff outside.
