Fellow Practitioner Issue 202 Dated 17April 2014
« on: April 17, 2014, 05:52:15 AM »
Here we are at Easter and the joke continues as the industry is now three weeks into the new licensing year and the Board is down on last year's total licensing by 41.96%.

When it comes to tradespeople it seems mistakes become offences, but when you are a bureaucrat offences become mistakes, well that seems to be the way it is when it comes to the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board. We say "before you judge me make sure you are perfect"

How can the Board get away with having parts of the industry turn their backs on the regulation of the industry.  It just shows Maurice Williamson and his cronies don't give a shit so why should we. All these tossers seem to think that if new people are appointed then that wipes the slate clean - well it doesn't.

We have all been living this nightmare for over a decade and it's getting worse. I recon these dorks are holding us to account for their mistakes. I bet the Federation would be happy to write the accountability agreement for the Board and the CEO.

I say Williamson and his cronies are too gutless to admit they cocked it up again and when the situation gets to a point of no return who are the poor buggers to suffer and pay for the cock up - us. Time for people to admit the faults and either fix them or piss off.

Nearly half the people not re-licencing......they seem to have lost my application and I had to send it again by registered post. Unbelievable...they were good enough to tell me AFTER the dead line.....

But "loosing" my application did allow them to let my old licence to expire.....hmmmmmm funny that......

And we get called incompetent if we don't up skill.......I wonder what up-skilling are they doing?

Hey, Rainbow Turtle, (the Minister of Building and Construction Indian name).....there's a bloody housing shortage on.

or perhaps we need a Minister of Bumbling and Corruption.....

You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Yeah i hear you badger. Mind blowing how incompetent they can be yet we get face drilled if their is a mistake.Sat my cert drainlaying exam last year. $409 i think it was. even paid the extra $8 to have my result couriered to me making it close to $420.

Never received my exam back from the board or any kind of corrospondence. Utterley useless.

What I want to know is, what about the thousands of fittings pouring out of home improvement stores everyday? Are people getting
licenses to replumb their own houses lol. The whole system is a joke.

Agree with you on that Rodza.

The worst thing about the Boards Performance is that their incompetence is so frequent that it has become common place.  The CEO should be held accountable.  What a total waste of money because not only do we pay him close to quarter of a million dollars we also pay for lawyers to cover his arse.

He can't even organise communication with the industry. It seems the appointed board are to gutless to fire him and the Minister is to gutless to fire the appointed board and the Prime Minister is to gutless to fire the minister and who pays for all these gutless pricks - us. If they are all to stupid to realise a big conflict is coming then it will up to them to explain the issues to the public. I'll be voting with my feet at the election and National can go screw thenselves

What gets at me is that these people see our industry as a play thing to keep them in jobs. They forget its our livelyhoods and they are sadly mistaken if they think we won't oppose them.

They have been told plenty of times the industry does not support the manner in which they are doing things but it is now as if they don't want to be proven wrong. Every time they do something it costs us money and that pisses me off as I have a mortgage to pay just the same as everone else.

I agree, if im rip roaring drunk on election day I still wouldnt vote national.

Actually who am i kidding I'll be out doing a job somewhere to keep the cash flowing and my family eating

Oh and to keep all these useless blobs on the board employed and their mates at parliament. I learnt the other day that apparently Steven Joyce studied zoology at university...these days he is economic development minister. This is the problem with nz. People running the country that have little to no experience with the portfolios they are handed. When your in power though they dont have to know anything, they just delegate tasks.

I wonder what Maurice Williamson was doing before politics? Car salesman haha?

Whatever it was I doubt hes done a good days hard work in his life.
