Fellow Practitioner Issue 229 Dated 24 October 2014
« on: October 24, 2014, 06:13:00 AM »
Is the plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying industry collateral damage resulting from failed Government policy or is it just simply the manner in which their policy is implemented by their appointed Board?

We give a reminder to the Government about what has been said in the past that hasn't been achieved.

The Government need more than a reminder they need a good kick in the arse. They simply don't give a rats arse about the industry as they don't have to fund it's regulation and they know we all need to work.

The government pay lip service to the 20% target increase in productivity they set and neither the government or opposition want to make too may waves as they are both responsible for the utter mess the industry is in.

This is one of the main issues I have with the board that it is funded by industry yet we get no real say on who is on the board should it not be an industry elected board with government representation not the other way around? In regards to the health and safety side of things many of the requirements already exist under the act but the enforcement of these and the responsibilities associated is changes the requirement for TA's JSA's and full health and safety plans have been in place for many years I may have some template I can share with interested parties
