Unfortunately when they talk about building boom that don't let Joe public know about the regional statistics and that Chirstchurch (which will start to slow down towards the end of 2016) and Auckland are the 2 areas that are driving this areas like Hamilton and Tauranga are starting to feel the spill over affect of this but the satellite regions as Hawke's bay etc are in some of the worst slumps in building is 30+ years my question is what will happen with all the tradesmen when Christchurch starts to wind up??

I finally had it - I've had it with these guys who are not licensed or registered doing the work we should be doing, but not paying the licence fees, the insurance, having to do the upskilling.  I'm guilty of moaning along with everyone else, pointing the finger, but not actually getting of my arse and putting in a complaint.  Well, that was the case until recently.  I'm so sick of not being able to compete with these clowns because they don't have the costs I have - that I finally got up the gumption and put in a written complaint to the PGDB with evidence of an unlicensed and unregistered person working - for at least the past year, and instructing others in plumbing as well.  I will be interested to see how it goes, how long it takes and what will be done.  Do I feel better?  Honestly - not entirely - I think it goes against the grain to do this, but it isn't right that these guys get away with this - and in the end, you have to stand up for what you believe in.  I think if we really drew the line in the sand and formally complained with as much evidence as we can - AND the Board did their part swiftly and effectively - we could make a dent in these illegal players in the market.  So far I have had a letter acknowledging my complaint and outlining what action the Board will take - which is to write to the alleged illegal operator.  I wait with interest.  I acknowledge that this person will need to be dealt with through the courts and not the disciplinary hearing, and it will cost practitioners substantially if they do that - but what is the alternative?

hi guys, Jax you will have to be a witness for the `Board` ask them for payment!  it will cost you time and money.  I could do the same if i wanted to but i am not going to get into that stuff, they screw us for all that it is worth then expect us to do their job as well. 
 As for the up skilling i agree, we did all that stuff before they tried to make money out of it so the point must be that we do not need it, cheers
