In fairness Robbo I understand SKILLS did try to get the person excused and it was refused.   I think the point is that in such a huge organisation there must be more than one person that can lead this discussion - that or we are all in the shit if this person leaves....

I think there is a growing dissatisfaction amongst the trades with the delivery of apprenticeship training (or lack of) at polytechs.  Those of us that employ apprentices would like to see a return to "training" in its purist form at tech, rather than straight assessment.   I have concerns about the costs of apprenticeships and wonder how much the techs get per head to run a one week block course - just how is the money being applied - both our contribution the government contribution - I suspect the huge beast that is the ITO is gobbling a lot up in administration.  I'd love to be proved wrong on this... so if you know feel free to enlighten me.
