1. Ensure ingress of air
2. To prevent excessive pull on the primary flue.
3. for dilution purposes
4. for lowering the flue gas temperature
5. for preventing condensation
6. To prevent incomplete combustion

(b)

The secondary flue pipe is part of the flue pipe system between the downdrought and flue terminal.
