This booklet provides concise information on the selection, care and safe use of lifting gear to help the user to avoid injury and to lessen the chance of damage to equipment and materials.

The term 'lifting gear' used in the booklet includes chains, ropes, slings, shackles, swivels, rings, hooks or other gear used to attach a load to a lifting machine.
