How many of us will be left in this industry
« on: September 16, 2013, 09:33:50 PM »
I was talking to an ex plumber the other day working in a shop, he was telling me he'd had enough of all the crap that we have to deal with and all the costs involved and was training to be a teacher. He also said he knew of four other guys who have got out of this nonsense in the last eighteen months and are in training or have other jobs not related to the trade.
The powers that be at our wonderfull board really need to wake up and realize what there doing to this industry what with people leaving overseas as well people leaving the trade for good and a whole new generation not getting the training required.

They want less tradesman, then they can set up McPlumbing firms/franchises country wide, employing so called "apprentices" on low wages, while they charge out at craftsman's rates, blatant.

They realise it mate, its called setting up a monopoly.....if people think they are charged a lot now, just wait until all the cronies are the only ones who can be bothered with it all/have the connections to kiss arse to be allowed to do it.

I know of a lot of guys either leaving the industry or even the country.....sad, real sad.

Deregulation, self certification and self rule by those involved in the industry......it is human nature that the greedy, power hungry self servers, will serve themselves.

You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Yep guys I think you are right.

Just look around at what people are appointed to the Boards in the industry. They are mostly appointed to multiple Boards and are mostly from the same industry organisation. No one else stands a chance and even the Minister of Building and Construction is buying into their crap with his recent re appointments to the PGDB. Look at Plumbers Merchants and the people on their Board.  Tradespeople need to start looking at the common denominators and what influence they are having and where they are taking the industry.

It's just corruption backed by a brotherhood.
