The Board Wants Our Veiws
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:18:53 PM »
hi guys, this is the latest from the Board, cheers
...
There are currently supervision requirements in place for trainees, holders of exemptions under supervision, and licensed class registered tradespeople. The Board wants to look at how well the current supervision requirements are working to see if they need to be reviewed. As part of this process the Board is looking for input from tradespeople and wants to know how you think supervision in the industry is working and could be improved. What do you think should be allowed or required in terms of supervision and what shouldn’t?

The Board does not yet have any firm views on this issue. Our work of developing a new policy will not start until we have the views of tradespeople. Please read the consultation paper and send us your views by 5pm Friday, 18 October 2013.

Hi Robbo.

The PGDB haven't given us the answer to the last lot of consultation they did on Audits yet so why are they starting another project.

I have a question for anyone out there regarding supervision.  "IS IT LEGAL FOR THE PGDB TO IMPOSE SUPERVISION OFFENCES/ PENALTIES ON SUPERVISORS BECAUSE OF WORK PEOPLE UNDER THIER SUPERVISION DO?"

It a taxi driver speeds does his boss get penalised.  If one of the PGBD Layers cocks up does Max Petersen get penalised?

I think this supervision policy has been made such a big deal because the PGDB has failed to ensure there are sufficient qualified people in the industry and the industry is having to do what it can to provide the service to the public and now are getting restrictions put on them due to yet more unfavourable circumstances created by the Board. Say for example if we had sufficient Certifying Gasfitters they wouldn't be signing off on Licensed gasfitters work. Everyone would be responsible for their own work.

The training system is adding to the problem by allowing on "out" for people when they get to licensing level. People stop and put greater pressure on the industry by not being responsible for their own work buy having to be under the supervision of a Certifier.  The entire system is a load of shit.

The Board are to thick to realise that they don't have the support of the industry so if it is not exactly right it will be apposed as they are not trusted - they are not believed.  Can anyone name anything they have done under Pedersens and Bickers rule that has been up front and honest?

You are quite right Robbo why should we help them? If we don't help them we still need to respond to the consultation even if it is to say we don't support the consultation because we don't trust them. If we don't respond they will take it that you support their every move.
