Who is the new Chair of the PGDB
« on: February 12, 2014, 09:52:32 PM »
No word officially yet, but if you check out the PGDB website you'll see under the photo of Peter Jackson it says (Chair) and Graham Hardie (Deputy Chair).  The picture of the Board has Alan Bickers (former Chair).

Not sure if its a faux par, or someone has started to update the website.

Sadly I have to say that if Mr Jackson is the new chair then there is unlikely to be any more co-operation with industry than we have seen under the former Chair.  Mr Jackson is certainly not a friend of the Federation and has made disparaging comments about them in Info Briefs previously.  Let's hope it is a faux par and that we see a Chair who is willing to work more with industry and engage in conversation with the Federation.

Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

Imagine if some one under this kind of pressure went to Aramoana for a holiday, or even went to watch the new batman film.

link from our parliament website, what would YOU do??

yes you sat in your office chair and came home to this..............from the link above...........

35. By far the worst event on a personal level was during the build up and preparation for my Hearing, the “impartial” investigator’s lawyer sent to my home, unmarked child sexual abuse case notes to prove his point on probabilities. As they were unmarked of their vile content, my long suffering wife read them and I came home to find her hysterical. At this time she was facing living in a caravan for the winter with her husband working away, minding our two young sons, as we were financially forced to sell our home. This situation that my wife faced later happened and I have had to work away for nearly two years since. I have told the present CEO of the Board about this, he has no problem with it and another PGDB member’s solution that he offered to me was “…had I thought of returning to the UK or going to Aussie”.

Mr Jacksie was on the impartiality* hearing.....and voted his own self impartial, personally.....perhaps he couldn't see straight, and was wanting to get home to watch home and away, well it was ten to two........back to the floor......hahahaha .............feck em....total clowns.

......the thing is when you fill your ranks full of people who are no threat to you and not as smart as you think you are ....and you yourself were chosen for those very reasons.......(so you and your predecessors can control their charges) and back stabbing and power struggles are the norm....which way do you take your little club...... up or down?

I hope all your "mates' show you the contempt YOU deserve, when the wolves are at the door......GOOD LUCK! with mates like that who needs enemies?......your crew will do it for us, out in the light.....see ya clowns.

...............and to my fellow tradesman....just to set the record straight....... I didn't complain about all the gasfitters in my area, just the dick who nearly killed someone, that was a just ploy to make me a pariah in my industry......which sadly worked, cheers.

MEDIA RELEASE | New Board Chairman Announced
13 Feb 2014 (Thu) - 15 Mar 2014 (Sat)
The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB) today announced the appointment of its new chairman, effective immediately.
The Board’s Chief Executive, Max Pedersen, said upon a unanimous decision taken at a board meeting yesterday Peter Jackson, Director of h2o design ltd (Queenstown) has been appointed Chairman of the Board.

Peter replaces Alan Bickers as Chairman of the PGDB, and joins Graham Hardie owner of River City Gas and NZ Gas Group (Wanganui) appointed as the new Deputy Chairman. Craig O’Connell, owner/director of the management consulting firm, Recruitment & Performance Consulting Ltd (Wellington) was re-elected Chairman of the Board’s Audit & Risk Committee.

Commenting on his new role, Chairman Peter Jackson said: “It is a true honour for me to be appointed as the new Chairman of the Board. The past three years have been one of repairing the reputation of the Board and ensuring the Act, which is to ensure the Health and Safety of New Zealanders is paramount and is upheld by the industry. I am looking forward to continue to work alongside the Board, the Chief Executive and his staff who have worked diligently during the past three years in achieving positive growth in this direction”.

Ends

Reading that statement someone must have lased the Boards fee lunch with cannabis.

I think that means I get the chocolate fish?   So two practitioners heading a consumer protection board?  Will we see a change in the way things go - it doesn't look likely from the press release.  It's time this Board was sucked into MoBIE and a licensing Board across regulated industries was formed.  It would save the NZ tax payer and the NZ builders, electricians and plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers a fortune - actually scratch that because sparkies have already saved a fortune with their sensible Board, - perhaps just the rest of us might save some money.

This is what happens when you believe your own press.  I would not have thought the reputation of the PGDB had been enhanced in any way in the last three years.  I would say the divide between them and industry was wider than ever, and they have been seen to act in an illegal manner till their mates in Parliament saved their arses.  Some of the transcript at both the RRC hearings and the Select Committee has been scathing of the behaviour of the Board.  Talk to any MP and they will tell you that when the subject of the PGDB is bought up in caucus committees, or meetings everyone wants to duck for cover because they know it isn't going to be good.

Agree totally Jaxcat.

The problem is we as an industry have let them get away with being clowns for far too long and now the illegal stupid behaviour is expected and is common place.

The other 8 members of the Board must be totally out of touch with reality to vote the way they have.
