If you are looking for commercial experience then steel caps I would think would be essential.  I assume you have emailed/discussed/read all the requirements for the PGDB - and are prepared to do what it takes to be assessed for a licence if you can get permanent work. 

Bring a big smile and your enthusiasm - along with a map so you know where you are going and you will be fine.  We are just going into an awesome summer - I imagine you will be keen to leave the cold weather behind.

The country is amazing and I love it here, 99.999% of the people are honest and will help you in every way they can and are some of the best people I have ever met....sadly 0.001% run the Plumbers Board and are incompetent fools with massive ego's.

Legally speaking your employer should provide ALL PPE gear, steel cap boots, hard hats, Hi Viz vests, goggles, ear muffs and anything other piece of safety equipment required to do the job safely.  Good employers do this - bad ones will tell you that you have to provide it.  This is illegal.  Check with them before you start work.  Some companies here have uniforms - many don't.  Guys generally wear what ever they have been given for free by the merchants   Summer is usually polo shirts and shorts, winter sweatshirts, long pants - clean but practical.  Bigger firms will undoubtedly have some form of company clothing, smaller guys usually it's wear what you want.
