Dux hot water water cylinder
« on: September 20, 2012, 12:39:12 PM »
Hi I hope your community can help me. I got myself 3 quotes to replace my leaky hot water cylinder, the cylinder needs to be installed outside as I wish to have it out of the house so my wife can finally stop annoying me about not having enough cupboard space and I can buy a boat instead of renovation the kitchen! Anyway, every quote came back with a different brand water heater. One of them was very high as it included a Superheat stainless steel model suitable for outdoors. Another one included a rinnai high flow (I think enamel) but powder coated apparently also suitable for outdoors.

The best price I got in the end was for an outdoor Dux hot water cylinder. Suspicious as I am I went back to the first two more expensive quotes and asked what they thought of the Dux and whether it was suitable but both didn't recommend Dux. Something about being a dying brand of cylinder, hard to get spare parts and the list goes on. Can you please shed some light on this for me so I can make the right decision?? I would appreciate any recommendations! Thank you

There is also other brands available suitable for outdoor use. I installed a stainless steel cylinder that was bought on trade me. This cylinder came with a smart control panel which gives you the option to switch it on and off with a build in timer, also shows the water temperature on the panel. None of the other electrical cylinders comes with such futures, I just have to ask the question - why not?
