Hot water cylinder dripping slightly
« on: October 31, 2009, 07:58:53 PM »
We have just had a builder come in and do some work and the process he changed out tap in the kitchen. If you all of a sudden lift the lever the hot water cylinder(which is on low pressure)makes a groaning noise and the valves around the cylinder drip. Its happened twice in the last week and was wondering what the cause of this was.It has happened once before and i called my plumber and he adjusted something under the sink and it was fixed instantaneeously.I was wondering if im doing damage to my hot water cylinder by leaving it

hi, it sounds like the cold water pressure is overcoming the low pressure hot when the lever is in the mixed position, the pressure relief valve should not operate if you are running the hot water, you have possibly had the wrong mixer fitted, chokeing down the cold feed to the tap would be one way of overcoming the problem(i pressume it is high pressure cold)the other way would be to change the cold supply to low pressure, good luck.

the next time you contact a plumber about your pipes, you should also ask what could be done to avoid that problem after it gets fixed... you said that this isn't the first this happened to you so i guess it will happen again if you do not do something effective about it... i suggest you check out my website to find out more on how you'll solve your problem: ***sorry website blocked***
