I assume that it's not permitted to have exposed plastic tubing (Buteline, etc) visible inside a Hot Water cupboard, though I have seen plenty of photos showing it. A mate even showed off his new Mains Pressure HWC to me the the other day, and it had Buteline all over the place. But I wonder if it's allowed?

I know the TPR valve outlet pipe has to be copper, and there has to be one metre of copper from the top of the cylinder outlet before any other connection, but I don't really understand why that is as the water flow isn't going to cool down much over that distance.

Could someone please clarify for me?

I still want to go have another look at my mate's install, as I'm pretty sure I didn't see a copper overflow pipe either...

I guess that using a plastic pipe inside a HW cupboard is not a god idea because it is not the general idea of plumbing. These plastic pipes are not resistible to heat and hence, they will be damaged easily
