« on: March 09, 2017, 06:47:26 PM »
Hi trying to see if replacement for zipp water heaters the old school type tea urn this also heats two basin mixers also I'm confused does it feed hot out the base or cold or act as a push thru  in have asked around but most don't seem interested and customer wants a good deal without changing to cylinder or alternative heating also is there any literature available

hi, those Zip water heaters are called `Boiling` zips because they boil water to boiling point. You don't want boiling water going to hand basins they are not designed for that, also you will be in trouble as the building code states that water to sanitary fixtures is no more than 55 deg, cheers

Where i work they have a couple of these old Zip's set up  in the older part of post mortem to run a basin (55') controlled by a delabie timed flow valve and  knife steriliser (82')
They are open vented, fed by a PRV  with the tempered water to the basin via a  Topliss shower mixing valve set to 55' and the handle removed.
The untempered supply is taken off before the mixing valve.

They work, are existing  but there as much better and almost idiot proof options available these days.
I would not get hung up on saving the client money as in the long run it wont, also it must comply.
If cost is a major factor here i would just walk away and watch my lawns grow, a much better way to spend your time.
Best of luck.
