I am not sure whos name is on the consent , as far as the council are concerned, in my area they do check our licences , and this person is currently licenced , the point I am making is the public are being mislead in not knowing who is actually responsible for the work being carried out on their properties . As I advised the builder , if the job turns to dust the person he will need to contact is the certifier as he is he one who will be in court , I also mentioned check the insurance arrangement , and is the certifier carrying insurance for him ,
I wonder are licenced operators running a buisness able to get insurance if they are not fully qualified , or do they have an arrangement with the certifier , who disclose to their insurance co the people they have agreed to supervise .
As an aside it would be interesting to know who is named on the consent , I will check this with the builder, if he is not forthcoming , I will ring the council , I have discussed this issue in the past with numeruos people , I believe the councils should email the named plumber so he is aware if he was not already that his name is on the building consent when it is issued , I know of a case where a plumber had nothing to do with a new house and was implicated in a leaky home 10 yrs later because his name was on the building consent, he had a job convincing everyone he did not do the work or had anything to do with it .
