the real results of the hearing of Paul Gee

http://www.stuff.co.nz/nelson-mail/news/5271430/Gasfitter-cleared-of-blame-over-blast

HAVE A READ OF THIS LINK THEN READ THE BOARD'S PRESS RELEASE, I'M NOT SURE IF THEY WERE AT THE SAME HEARING :o

HUGE UPS TO WAL AND THE FEDERATION, TOTALLY DOWN TO WAL THE MAN HAS INTEGRITY AND IS SWITCHED ON, I WAS JUST THE EYE CANDY AT THE HEARING.

WE HAVE THIS ONE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE CHANGE, IT IS NOW AND IT NEEDS NUMBERS, YOU CAN JOIN THE FEDERATION TODAY AND FIGHT WITHIN THE SAFETY OF NUMBERS AND BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY OR YOU CAN POTENTIALLY FACE IT TOMORROW ALONE AND NOT KNOW WHERE TO TURN AND BE SWAMPED IN BURAURCRACY, believe me i know.

THEY HAVE YET AGAIN MISREPRESENTED ME AND ARE HOLDING ON TO THEIR ONE CHARGE (BECAUSE IF THAT FALLS OVER THE SECOND CHARGE DISSAPPEARS)THIS IS OUT OF FORTY BLOODY FOUR CHARGES, AND THIS CHARGE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT THE BOARD'S OWN INVESTIGATOR SAID I HAD COMPLIED WITH THE COMPULSORY PART ONE OF THE REGS AND THE CUSTOMER HAS EMAILED ME TODAY TO SAY IT IS UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! THEY PERSECUTE US WITH OUR OWN MONEY AND DRAW A WAGE AND HAVE LAWYERS AT THEIR DISPOSAL, this is not fair and  THIS IS NOT OVER.

I HAVE BEEN ON THE DEFENCIVE FOR 2 AND A HALF YEARS NOW IT IS TIME FOR THE OFFENCIVE AND BELIEVE ME I CAN BE OFFENCIVE, LOL  :P

Good to here you've had most of the s##t thrown out of court.
Having read the pgdb's press release word's fail me, there just a bunch of self serving parasites who deserve to be strung up.
Hope you get the last few issues sorted out and you can get on with your life.
Has anyone thought of trying to get all this on something like Campbell Live or Close Up as the public need to know what we're dealing with.

should be on close up this week mate, don't forget we need numbers signed up to the federation and opportunities like this don't come around very often, if ever.

think of this..... the board skite all the time about a 100% conviction rate (similar to the Spanish Inquisition and other witch hunts) this is statistically improbable if not impossible, reminds me of the Monty python sketch...........how do you know I'm a witch?? we pay them to screw us over.........and get this they are a registered charity and don't pay tax :o :o :o :o, their "charitable" work is looking after the health and safety of the public, which i find amazing because i tried to tell them about my old boss since 2003(chip shop exploded in 2008), then they appoint the very same bloke to investigate me that gave my old boss his craftsman ticket after one oral exam, after never sitting an apprenticeship!!

There is still a HEAP that people are not aware of, but it will all come out in the wash 8).

Congrats to you Wal and Badger well done. I hope you can get the last charge sorted out from what I read it sounds like a load of bulls**t.

Woody the three people that have vacated the board are the three who's time was up and they were up for reelection or replacement by the minister. See the other posts on the forum for a break down of who they are and draw your own conclusions as to why the minister might have chosen at least 1 of them (hint look at there law qualifications and the recent problems with the act :o :o)

Well Badger - finally vindicated at last.  I am thrilled to see the Nelson paper's gave as much publicity to the outcome as they did to the trial - this so often is not the case.  I too read the Nelson Mail and the PGDB press release and was amazed at how spin doctors at the PGDB can turn any bit of news inside out and regurgitate it.  I understand that this has cost you dearly in terms of time and emotion - and also your family will have suffered immensely.  I do not belittle that when I also say that the PGDB have spent literally thousands of dollars on this investigation and subsequent hearing - thousands of practitioners dollars with a very poor outcome from their perspective.  This leads me to believe that with so many charges made against you and the PGDB only finding two to be proven (using their words - I do understand you may appeal this) - then their investigator has done the most appalling of jobs.  I understand the PBDB had a barrister, obviously their own in house counsel, and also a QC - I mean these people do not come cheap.  They will have paid for the investigator, the hotel and accommodation for the Board hearing the case, the accommodation etc for the barrister and his bills, the witensses that would have been called in - etc etc etc.  It just all smacks of an inept system.

If gthe investigator had done a thorough job then it is highly unlikely that you would have been charged at all.  The lesson for all of us is that based on what you have had to go through - any practitioner in NZ could find themselves in the same spot.  It appears that the PGDB need to thoroughly re-visit their investigation regimes and perhaps the people they pay to undertake their investigations.

I know that you are a Master Plumber member from other comments you have made.  Have they been in contact with you now the result is out?

Wal Gordon is to be congratulated - he has done a sterling job at his own cost -men like this are few and far between in our society.

Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

No jax the master plumber's haven't been in touch, i agree with the cost which they will now try to re coup from me on this one bogus charge, i am definitely appealing and want a public inquiry into how this farse came about, ESPECIALLY AS I TRIED TO WARN ABOUT IT FOR FIVE BLOODY YEARS. Which is probably why.

I totally agree on your comment on Wal, you don't get many like him and it really is a huge opportunity for the industry to get behind him/the Federation and give him the support and platform needed to get this sorted, when he goes on close up, email in and tell them what has and is happening, this opportunity of public exposure doesn't come about very often either. It really is now or not for another 10yrs or more. Lets hold a mirror up to them and show them for what they are, before someone gets really hurt or killed by shoddy work and practices, but being protected by their mates.

Thank you all for your support, this ain't over yet.

Hi guys/wal/Badger, I’ve read all the latest and am amazed that this ever went as far as it did. The whole system needs an overhaul.  I guarantee that if you did an audit on half a dozen jobs of every one of us tradesmen, you would find something that you could pick on as not exactly to the regs etc, we do not live in a perfect world and we are not perfect.  The pgdb`s disciplinary system needs a serious overhaul or scrapping all together, the board has far too much power and seems to use it to boost their bank account and there is only one group funding it,,, US, this is not about the money it`s about the abuse of power by a group that is out of control,
Chin up Badger, we all feel for you, cheers

Every now and then I read  the book 'plumbing in new zealand'. it was standard issue to all plumbing apprentices in the 70's and early 80's. we called it our plumbers bible, although outdated in a lot of ways then, it holds basic methods and calculations, trade related science etc,the stuff that doesnt change. but the part  i admire about the book is in the foreward section it lists its thanks and apprecitation to its contributors. its contributors were an across the industry collaboration of employers, workers, educators and beurocrats. yes it even had input from the plumbers & gasfitter drainlayers union.
my point is, that book was a success  because it was written by the industry for the industry, and used for the training and testing of persons aspiring for a trade certificate. not like now , now a private company out to make a profit called the ito who are not plumbers are the gate keepers to training. the corporate-like moguls called the pgdb who are not plumbers and are out to ammass cash surplusses  are the gate keepers to licencing, using inconsistant cpd courses as door pass,  neither have credibility with most of the players in the industry. equally as unwanted are what once was the respected master plumbers association whose membership is now what 12 to 16 % of the industry. Its no wonder people are figuring out ways to beat the system, the collaboration has failed and the cancer of self destruction is rife through the system.

Amen to workers post above! And thanks aboutgas for the enlightenment, i just figured it was due to the outcome that board members were vacated. I really am not interested in reading up about members qualifications as im having a pretty good day and dont want to get grumpy and feel ripped off/let down! Cheers
