No update at this stage.  The Charities Commission keeps on changing their story. I don't know why these organisations are sticking their necks out for the Board.  You would think the old term of "if you do the crime you do the time" would apply but it seems more like "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"

Good things take time and in the near future good things will be announced.

It sickens me that this government, and the one before it have wrapped the Board in cotton wool and not make them own up to their mistakes. At times it seems like the whole bloody lot of them have circuled the wagons.  The Board's latest stance is to deny they even know how things were worked out two years ago, how figures have changed so rapidly - "we weren't there then."  Mr Craig O'Connell was the Acting CEO when the Board announced the real cost of initial registration was $1400 and now they are talking $500.  Perhaps the new CEO could ask him at the next Board meeting how they came to the cost of $1400 and how HE thinks the figure might have dropped to $500?   They are as transparent as a 100 year old oak tree.  They SHOULD be as transparent as glass.  Despite all the rhetoric we can see that our disciplinary levy was not spent entirely on dicipline, but has VERY obviously gone into the reserves.  None of us need to be a rocket scientist to see that, and we don't have to work for KPMG to be able to work it out.  I understand one of the newest Board member's has an accounting degree - one can only say it might be sorely needed to point out the obvious.  I am both sickened and disappointed that this board haven't fronted and stated what we can all see, and that is they are not using the disciplinary levy or offences fee as the Act envisioned, nor are they spending it on matters arising out of...  They are just charging it, using some of it, and pocketing the rest to help pay for overheads and costs.    This could be interpreted as theft - why not just put on a balaclava and be done with it?
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

They bare face lied at the consultation.....AND DO SO ON A REGULAR BASIS, handing out empty apologies and ruining peoples lives at will...working under the guise as a charity??????????

Why?... because they can.....And legally get away with it.......and they know this acting with impunity....because they can...

All protected by an Act that makes them non liable for any of their actions or what they say...........an Act written by Ministers.

You can complain about it....as long as you don't complain about anything they say or do (read the Act this is not an exaggeration).........and your complaints are not to fall outside of the very limiting policies of the Act.

They can be sacked......but only by the Minister who put his reputation on the line by employing them, to admit any wrong doing by them would make him look bad..... luckily Ministers get to write the Act that protects the Board so well.

AND YOU WONDER WHY THEY DON'T PLAY FAIR.....ITS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO.....

I tell people about this state of affairs and they look at me as though I am making it up, it would be funny if it wasn't so true.

Remember when you were a kid playing away....You are playing on their home ground, they have the slope and wind in their favour, for both halves, with the sun in your eyes, their star player has his dad as the ref, enforcing a book of rules they just made up and ignore at will.....AND THEY BOAST ABOUT HAVING A 100% WINNING STREAK.........LAME BUNCH OF KNOBS.

A FAIR GAME ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD WOULD KILL THEM WITH SHOCK...
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Why are we against them being a charity? Surely if they change and have to pay tax it'll simply mean they need more money from us?

They should not be making a profit - that is the point - there is no reason for them to be a charity either - it is just another shifty thing to add to some of the other shifty things.  There is a principle involved here.  You are right - if they make a profit then they will have to pay tax, which effectively practitioners pay.   But on what grounds are they a charity.  And wearing your tax payer hat, instead of your practitioner hat - why should you subsidise them as a charity anyway.  It is dishonest, and we should be demanding the highest level of behaviour from them.

It will be interesting to hear news regarding the Board's registration as a charity.  What I found interesting is that unlike a Trust, or an Incorporated Society, who are granted charitable, donee and tax exempt status by furnishing a copy of their Deed of Trust or Constitution and the assessment of those rules as to whether they meet the charitable test, is that the Board submitted the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006 as their "rules"... all 126 pages of it.  Makes me scratch my head in wonder...

Said it once, will say it again....gangsters in suits. The new york/new jersey mafia could learn a thing or two from our PGDB about embezzlement of funds and the sophisticated way in which they do it..

No. That was my first thought. I've had a decent look. It appears they (PGDB) are not a charity you can claim back tax on.

The PGDB seem very similar to some MP's or political parties, or the ''govt'' , and can basically do or say or deny anything they want and because they are so high up, and by putting the right spin on a situation they get away with it.   ''Human Error'' ring any bells anyone?
