i would like to hear from all my fellow gasfitters about your thoughts on the new standard.

i will start with voicing my disappointment that the pgdb has not provided gas fitters with a orientation of the new standard,
very disappointing considering they will be auditing us all within months, with clearly no assistance or guidance.
i have identified a number of MAJOR changes that WILL be on the boards hit list...as i have all ready been told.
very dissapointing . :(.
what this space! ;)

hi bowtieboy/guys, you will probably find that the `Master plumbers` are running or have already run a course at a cost to do the orientation to it`s members, cheers

Hi Guys.

This is a prime example of what CPD should be. IE an identified training need that is necessary.

It is a mandatory item that the Board should be facilitating but here lies the problem.  The system has been set up in such a way that it is reliant on suppliers to provide the courses which they have to pay for to get developed and accredited.

The Board should be having a free mandatory session for all gasfitters but you won't see that as they don't understand what an identified training need is and they don't understand what is necessary.

Put on some sunblock and listen to a couple of conversations in the workplace and you will have sufficient CPD points to be deemed competent on the NZS5601.

100% agree with you Wal - this would be a great example of a need across industry.  The Board just don't get it - they don't get it at all.

grab a copy rodza, there is anumber of changes that WE ALL need to be aware of, but its not my job, its the powers that be, that should be upskilling gas fitters on it......
And that should have been DONE by now as i understand this standard is the bible as of december!!!
i feel this is very disapointing that both pgdb and master plumbers had done nothing.

i stand corrected ! master plumbers do run a nzs5601 course.... at a cost!! which i find totally unacceptable.
this is a legal document that we should have and be orientated on for free.! >:(
